Initial List of Issues
The following is a list of the initial issues that have been defined. This list is not in a priority order.
- How do we ensure the mission statement we developed for our preventive maintenance program is consistent with the mission of the asset?
- How do we measure and then achieve the right balance between required levels of component performance and the cost of the preventive maintenance program?
- How do we design the basis for our preventive maintenance program to minimize the cost associated with keeping it up to date? We do not want to conduct another update project - ever!
- How can we work together to actively compare what we are doing on similar equipment to ensure we all have the best of learnings from others about what preventive maintenance activities are being performed, how often, and on-line vs. outage?
- How do we get system and component engineers more involved in the ownership of the preventive maintenance program?
- What are the best "balanced score card" performance measures we can use to measure the effectiveness of the preventive maintenance program? What can we measure as leading indicators to let us know there is a problem before plant performance is affected? We want something more than just the percentage of preventive maintenance activities that are overdue!
- What can we do to increase the priority of the preventive maintenance program on station? What can we do to get the station to recognize the value and accuracy of results from our condition monitoring program?
- How can we improve methods for obtaining shop feedback from completed preventive maintenance? How do we recognize and reward shop personnel for their input to improving the preventive maintenance program?
- How can we improve the administrative of the preventive maintenance program such as processing & approving PM Deferrals and setting grace periods?
- How do we ensure we have the most efficient living program? How do we ensure is includes new and innovative ideas from this and other industries?
- What is the best approach to beginning a systematic method for improving our preventive maintenance ("PM Optimization")?
- How do we integrate more preventive maintenance activities that specifically address aging degradation mechanisms with condition monitoring and time directed activities?
- How do we integrate more predictive maintenance and condition monitoring into existing preventive maintenance programs?
- How do we integrate preventive maintenance optimization efforts with INPO AP-913, "Equipment Reliability Process Description" and EPRI PM Bases / PMIR?
